Studies show that ACT is efficacious for a range of conditions including anxiety, depression, substance use, and chronic pain.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT is a unique empirically based psychological intervention that uses acceptance and mindfulness strategies, together with commitment and behaviour change strategies, to increase psychological flexibility. Psychological flexibility refers to the ability to be present in the moment, with awareness, and take action/engage in behaviours that are guided by our values. ACT focuses on helping people to behave more consistently in line with their own values and to apply mindfulness and acceptance skills to their responses to uncontrollable experiences.

ACT can help with a range of life difficulties and studies have shown that it is efficacious for conditions including anxiety, depression, substance use, and chronic pain.

Visit the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science website, for more information on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
